September 19^th – Werth Caps off Comeback against Nationals with 2-Run Blast

Jayson Werth connected on a 3-2 pitch from Nationals’ Closer Drew Storen to cap off a 4-run 9^thinning comeback for the Phillies.

The Phillies entered the 9^th trailing the Nationals 6-3. When Ryan Howard’s RBI double brought the Phillies closer at 6-5 and that brought up Jayson Werth, whom, after a lengthy at-bat, homered to dead center field against the Nats’ closer.

The win allowed the Phillies to sweep the Nationals and win their 7^th straight ballgame. This game was even more significant since it gave the Phillies momentum into their upcoming series against the Atlanta Braves.
